Abstract
To be able to optimize the quality of the welded joints of products such as pressure vessels it is necessary to know the demands to which they are subjected during operation and the mechanical characteristics that need to be considered in order to be followed to obtain the best possible quality from the point of view of mechanical resistance This paper is focused on the specific bending strength of the welds executed on the circular contour of the pressure vessels The parameters of the welding regime that are considered are the voltage of the electric arc the intensity of the electric arc and the welding speed for which are determined evolution trends of the bending mechanical characteristics These trends are compared with each other and the contribution of each parameter is observed as well as which has the most pronounced effect on the bending resistance characteristics The collection of data regarding the bending resistance characteristics is carried out with the help of the stress-deflection curves resulting from the bending testing of the specimens taken from welded joints under different welding regimes The steel that was used as the base material is a low-alloy fine-grained carbon steel intended for construction of pressure vessels called P355 N The welding technology used is submerged arc welding the specimens being welded in the industry on a semi-automatic welding machine to eliminate errors involving the human factor
